Florida_Traveling_Homeschool_Adventurers - This group is primarily set up for Florida homeschoolers looking to participate in adventurous field trips or meet ups with other homeschool families and to also communicate with other "traveling" homeschoolers that are in the state of Florida.

We are for traveling homeschooling families (RVers/Campers/big rigs): those whose home is on the road; those that travel for meet ups or weekends; and those homeschoolers that dream of when their life will be on the road! As homeschoolers, we are not limited with our educational journeys--we're not stuck in non-moving buildings. We can learn about this state by exploring, and seeing it up close and personal through multi-day events and overnight trips for homeschoolers. Events posted should be multi-day events, keeping in mind that many families may be considering substantial travel time to attend these events.

I'm hoping that most of the events/meet-ups posted will be created by (and for) homeschooling families living in, or wishing to travel through Florida. Activities will be located throughout Florida to allow for homeschoolers all over the state to participate. We can share traveling information or to let one another know when camping/RVing at certain times and locations in order to have the opportunity to meet up with other families in the state.

    To Subscribe, visit Florida_Traveling_Homeschool_Adventurers.

FLORIDA UNSCHOOLERS - Florida Unschoolers was born from tiring of an endless drone of this curriculum vs. that, how well little Bobby did on some worthless test, and other disempowering topics. We offer an alternative to groups whose primary focus is on common, constrained, difficult, and boring curriculum bound homeschool methods. We support and honor the child's innate desire and ability to learn.

There are no elected leaders, and we are completely volunteer in nature. Our primary purpose is creating learning opportunities (field trips) and social gatherings for our children. Those who have an idea for an activity for the group, take all the necessary actions to make it happen, and others participate if it suits their family.

As a group, our “personality” is relaxed and eclectic. Some of our members' interests include John Holt's principles of growing without schooling, attachment parenting, and healthy living. We tend to be self-directed in our approach to educating our children. Our children are respected as complete human beings. It is important to us to arrange monthly events that Dads can attend too.

If you're frightened or unsure of how to unschool your child, we'll help you with that. It's far easier than any other method. You must remember…your kids are most likely far more intelligent than you think they are. Unschooling is simple, safe, and fun.

IS IT A GOOD FIT? Florida Unschoolers is NOT for you if you are looking for a group that is highly structured, academically focused, requires participation, or that asks for a statement of faith. If you're looking to be led, (rather than to be one of many, all moving in a similar direction,) this is not the group for you.

    To Subscribe, visit FLORIDA UNSCHOOLERS.

FlPaganhomeschoolers - FL Pagan Homeschoolers is a statewide group comprised primarily of Pagan home educators throughout Florida. Even those who are not homeschooling are welcome to join. Most of the homeschooling families on this list practice some form of earth-based spirituality, although we may call the variations by different names - Paganism, Native American spiritualism, Wicca, Druidism, Asatru, Heathenism etc. Flpaganhomeschoolers is also open to all others friendly to free thought or alternative philosophies - agnostic, atheist, humanist, still searching, or don't want a label. If you are not Pagan and would like to join, feel free to do so. Please remember that this is a Pagan-friendly list and that closed minds need to have closed mouths. This is a pro-tolerance group. Practicing Universal Love and acceptance of all of Earths creatures!

Pagan home learners of all types are welcome to join - unschooling, classical education, school-at-home, Waldorf, Montessori, box curriculum, secular, eclectic, etc.

I would like to see this group evolve into a support system and an extended family for ourselves and other non-traditional homeschoolers. This is not "my" group, it is our group. It is open for homeschool support and the special needs of pagan families: help with finding pagan, secular or alternative curriculums, pagan parenting discussions, play groups, field trips, family rituals & traditions, holidays - seasonal celebrations, Sabbats, blots, etc., drum circles, and other pagan-friendly events.

Please join our group with an introduction about yourself and your family and post freely, kindly remember that no flaming will be tolerated.
