NACHE - North AL Christian Home Educators Online is a group sponsored by Rushton Family Ministries and established for the purpose of encouragement, fellowship, and communication between homeschooling families in North Alabama. Our prayer is that this list will be a support to all homeschoolers of North Alabama whether veterans who have been at this for milleniums, new homeschoolers needing help with day-to-day struggles or even those who would like to know more about homeschooling. Join us...but don't forget your cup of tea!

NorthAlabamaHomeEducators (North Alabama Home Educators) - We are an inclusive support group for anyone in or near north Alabama. We hold monthly Picnic & Play days at a local park when the weather is good and sometimes have other meetings and special events. All are welcome!

When applying for membership please let our ListMom know your name, your location (just area, not address) and your interest in the list (ie - looking for fun activities for my kids, looking for new friends, looking for other homeschoolers/unschoolers, etc). If you would like to include any other information that is optional. This information is private and only used by our ListMom to screen our membership as an anti-SPAM measure. It will not be passed on to anyone else.

Posting an intro to the list is completely optional.

To Subscribe, visit North Alabama Home Educators.

North-Alabama-Trailblazers - North Alabama Trailblazers is a group of homeschooling families. We meet together for mutual socialization and companionship of children and parents alike. We serve Madison, Morgan, Limestone, AL and Lincoln, TN counties only. Anyone from the surrounding counties is welcome to join us but will have to drive to the Huntsville metro area for functions.

We are a cooperative support group open to any homeschooler that needs one, not a cover school. We have kids of all ages but the heart of our membership is currently children ages 3-12.

About once or twice a month we do field trips. We also do seasonal and holiday parties. We also do playdays twice a month from March-October at local parks. If a parent suggests an activity and is willing to help with it, we will try our best to do it.

If you would like more information about North Alabama Trailblazers and our current activities, please subscribe to this list.

All homeschoolers are welcome to join us but in order to remain a member after joining YOU MUST EITHER BE REFERRED BY ONE OF OUR EXISTING MEMBERS OR SOMEONE IN THE HOMESCHOOLING COMMUNITY OR, IF APPLYING ON THE WEB AND YOU DO NOT KNOW US, MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO ATTEND AT LEAST ONE FUNCTION WITHIN 60 DAYS OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP TO ALLOW US TO MEET YOU.

After all, this is an activity group for homeschool support and we do expect to see our members at activities from time to time so we can get to know them better. Also, the group and its activities are as successful as our member families make them be.

wakenowdiscover (Wake Now Discover) - There are plenty of sites out there for theory discussion and all that jazz. ****This is a space for unschooling-oriented families in North Alabama to meet and create community (and move that community into the world).***

Group name comes from Eyes of the World, lyrics by Robert Hunter. "Wake now discover" reminds me of the idea that all you have to do to learn is open your eyes in the morning (and the metaphorical 'waking up' that led our family to this path), and the whole song speaks to me of the life we are trying to create:

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own
Sometimes we visit your country and live in your home
Sometimes we ride on your horses, sometimes we walk alone
Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world
The heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own
Wake now discover that you are the song that the morning brings
The heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own
