We are an open door for current and potential home-educators, regardless of religious conviction or method of "schooling." SHINE serves families in the Parkersburg-Marietta area of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Though this is a Christian homeschool support group, all homeschoolers are welcome as long as they conduct themselves in a way that is not offensive to Christian beliefs and/or values. Members of this website are encouraged to post helpful, inspirational and encouraging information; activities and field trips that are open to other homeschoolers; list homeschool curriculum, equipment and supplies available for sale, etc. All members, activities, field trips and information posted on this website are subject to the approval of the moderators and leadership of OEW Homeschool Support Group of Frederick County, MD. Okay, there IS one other rule: Please respect the purpose of this group and do not join just to post advertising. All new member posts are moderated and advertising will not be approved so you'll be wasting your time and mine. If you have a product that would be of interest to homeschoolers, send it to me personally and, if it's legitimate, I will post it to the group as an advertisement.

For safety reasons, this is a closed group. All new members will have to be approved. I would like to do it by invite only, or by mentioning that they heard about it on an official West Virginia homeschool list. Now, a couple of rules: Absolutely no profanity or sexual talk will be tolerated and will be grounds for instant expulsion. DO NOT post your personal information (Last name, phone number, address)...lets stick to first names and the county we're in. No links to personal pages (my space, etc.) And most of all, just be yourselves! That's the best part!

WV Homeschooling Legislative provides a proselytizing-free zone that is also calm and respectful. Flames, solicitations, and proselytizing are not welcome.
