Within our group we promote the idea that you have to give something to the group to get something out of it. We want the cooperative classes we create to be fun as well as educational and with at least one contribution per year from each member we have a wonderful time.

When out in public or in each others homes our group understands that we are not only representing the BBHC but homeschoolers as well. Each family is provided with our groups basics of how we want to represent the group.

Understand your role in the group. To be an active member your family should have their dues paid for the current year ($10.00/yr, due on Sept. first), be on the E-list, contribute to the coops welfare at least once a year, as well as join us so that we can make friends to last a lifetime. Some suggested contributions:plan a park day, help another member plan an event, host a guest speaker, start a class, plan a field trip, no contribution is too small.

Before you decide to become part of the BBHC please assure that our groups philosophy is in line with what you would like to bring to your support group. Our group does not look for growth so that we can simply have a group in mass. That philosophy simply serves no purpose in our educational or friendship goals.

We seek to support parents in their families educational journey. We do this by offering pre-sholar and scholar classes for ages 12 to 18. These classes help to mentor youth through the transition phase of pre-scholar to scholar phase. We offer many different classes, such as Shakespeare/Drama, Constitutional studies, Thomas Jefferson Certification, Ballroom dancing, Music instruction, Languages, etc.

We seek to help these youth to become true scholars and great leaders of society.

A monthly group service project will be posted as well as local community needs. Volunteer opportunities will be available for all ages so that families may serve together. Knights of Freedom is a homeschool boys club sponsored by the American Youth Leadership Institute. The club is for boys ages 8-12 who live in the Jordan Valley area of Salt Lake County, Utah (or are willing to drive).

The mission of the Knights of Freedom shall be to promote the principles of virtue such as prowess, courage, honesty, loyalty, generosity, faith, courtesy and nobility through the study and emulation of great leaders.

We accomplish our mission by studying great American leaders, reading biographies, having activities, giving the boys opportunities and training for leadership and public speaking and participating in simulations. We provide the following to support your homeschooling efforts: a community of friends for adults and children through Weekly Park Days, holiday/seasonal parties, Scholastic book orders, information about homeschooling or educational opportunities around the valley, Mom’s Night Out, monthly field trips, and more.

We welcome everyone to our group that is willing to be open-minded and allow others to be who they are without judgment. We do not like to say we are a secular group because for many homeschooling families their faith is a large reason for home schooling. We as parents accept the opportunity and responsibility to teach our own children about differences and the appreciation of them. Having said this, we want you to understand that our focus is not on religion or politics, but simply home schooling and supporting the home schooling families that are members of our group with friends, fun, information and good times.

Membership is moderated. Member's posts are not. New members should introduce themselves. Please remember that we would like the members on this list to tolerate diversity in all member's philosophies and approaches to life.

Selling things - or marketing products or services, for yourself or others - should be an infrequent event for an individual, though. If you have a website where you are selling things, you are welcome to put a line or two with the url, under the signature on your posts.

Out of respect for the diverse membership of the list, religious and political discussions (and similarly charged topics) are off-limits on the list. And of course, no flaming or personal attacks.
