The purpose of this yahoo group is to keep in contact with each other in an efficient manner.

Mission Statement: Christian Homeschoolers of Iowa County (CHIC) provides support, education and fellowship for Christian families in Iowa County who have made the decision to educate their children at home. CHIC's overall mission is to encourage parents to train up their children in a manner pleasing to Jesus Christ and to equip them with a Biblical worldview.

It was decided by the group that anyone who wants to participate in email group conversation via this email group will need to sign the Statement of Faith and become a member with full rights and responsibilities. Participation in the group activities will not be dependent on signing the Statement of Faith.

We are a new support group, and as such we are still defining ourselves and our needs. This list serves as a contact point for home educating families new to the DBQ area, new to homeschooling in general, a way to publicize our meetings and activities, and for plain old encouragment.

We have an offspring group for the kids. You can find it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HSIowaKids/. Parents must be a member of homeschool-Iowa in order for the kids to join HSIowaKids. We try to keep the group spam free and our parents can moderate what is going on.

Iowa Unschoolers (IU) is a moderated discussion list as well as support network for new and experienced unschooling families who live in or near Iowa. Unschooling encompasses, at its core, an atmosphere of trust, freedom, joy and deep respect for who the child is. We are brought together because we embrace unschooling as a philosophy of natural learning as well as a mindful lifestyle. Anyone can join, but only the cooperative can stay. Everyone with an open mind and who is interested in exploring unschooling in this light are welcome. There are thousands of homeschooling lists in the world, and this one is for unschoolers.

This is NOT Unschool-Light. Talking about curriculum will not be ANY fun and may get one dropped from the group. This is a place to explore and discuss applying unschooling principles and peaceful parenting to your homeschooling as well as your parenting lives.

Welcome to the email group created to facilitate networking, event planning, and friendships between Quad City area homeschooling families. Those of all faiths are encouraged to join and enjoy getting to know other local homeschoolers.

Activity announcements, homeschooling related questions/stories/advice, event planning and supportive emails are all appropriate for the group. The QCA Secular Homeschoolers group is not limited to any one form/method of homeschooling.

After an introduction all members should feel free to use the list to plan outings or invite other members to local events. This is a laid back group, not a structured club or society ***but religious topics should be avoided on list***

Our focus for our children is to nurture them in biblical values and to cultivate academic excellence through consistent homeschooling. As Christians, we believe it is important to support each other on our homeschooling journey and our walk with the Lord.

At our monthly meetings, we plan to have speakers from within the group and from outside the group. Our meetings also provide a time for encouragement, support and fellowship.
