Most of our teenage homeschoolers also belong to one or more of the HOUSE homeschool groups or unschooling groups in the Chicago area, with members coming from, but not limited to, Cook, Will, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, Kendall, and Kane county homeschooling families.

In this group, all members agree to abide by a code of Christian conduct. All correspondence within the group will focus on the topic of homeschooling. Our individual family traditions and theologies may differ, but we are united in Christ as Christian brothers and sisters. Respect for each other and godly attitudes should be evident in all group communication and activities.

This is an e-group, thus all information is diseminated through e-mail. Information about outside group activities or educational opportunities will be posted regularly. Discussion topics relevant to education are welcomed. All members are invited to participate. List moderators will assist in keeping posts relevant to homeschooling. If it is decided a discussion thread is inappropriate, disrespectful, or too controversial, list members will be asked to discontinue the thread. If a persistant problem occurs, a member may be asked to leave the e-group.

LAMP is a local christian support group for homeschooling families and those interested in homeschooling in Murray-Calloway County and surrounding areas of Western Kentucky. We are dedicated to helping each other as we pursue the endeavor of home educating our children. It is our aim to provide support to parents as they educate their children. We believe in LOVING,AFFIRMING, MINISTERING, and PREPARING them as they take roles in the church, their family and in becoming "lights" in their community.

OTBP was founded in July of 2000 by some moms who met in La Leche League and decided to form a local support group for unschoolers. Since then, many, if not most of our members have their roots in LLL. The natural continuum of this gentle and respectful approach to parenting led us to homeschooling.

Unschoolers, in general, may find themselves shying away from more formal, organized homeschool groups, a situation which can make it challenging for local unschoolers to find each other.

OTBP’s mission is to provide a means for local unschoolers, and those wanting to learn more about interest-led learning, to connect and support one another.

This group has a nice mixture of pagan parents, homeschool to public, stay-at-home and otherwise. We plan to create more child-friendly events as our networking efforts gel. The average ages of our children right now range from infant to teen.

The thoughts views expressed within this group are not typically considered those of the “mainstream”. It can be very refreshing to meet other like-minded people to develop a more diverse friend base support system. Our group sponsors drop-in park dates on a bi-weekly basis. Parent planning meetings take place at the first park date of the month. Non-sponsored individually sanctioned activities are posted on this announcement board as a courtesy for our members. We also have a parent meeting once a month at a local coffee house.
