All Ways Learning is an inclusive group of homeschooling families which accepts and respects each member. We practice Grace-Based Discipline and see Attachment parenting as a natural way to parent. Homeschooling comes naturally to many as an extension of Attachment parenting!

Each month we rotate which child will choose the next book. The child who chooses the selection will be responsible for coming to the meeting prepared with four or five discussion type questions about the book. All the children will have a chance to respond to each question, and then can pose their own, in a round robin fashion. While there is no age requirement for this club, participants must be mature enough to engage in the discussion. At this time, most children who will be participating are aged 10 and up. The goals of this group are to have this be a child-led book club, with minimal adult involvement, and to foster an environment that begins to cultivate a love of classic literature in our children.

Often we stumble upon a great class that is offered in a way that is convenient to regular school kids. This group will facilitate the organization of groups of interested kids and the negotiation of special conditions and pricing to meet the needs of homeschoolers.

There are many homeschool groups with a local focus or a state-wide focus, this one is intended to be for all SoCal residents who value the opportunity to take part in a unique or interesting event, even if it requires a longer drive.

Guidelines for discussions:

1. Keep it friendly. We are real people with real feelings discussing issues that are important to us. Please keep that in mind.
2. Keep to the topic. Your opinions about the subject are welcome, but please refrain from making personal remarks about any individuals.

4. Try to listen. Agree where you can, and let others know that you value them as people even if you disagree. Try to understand when someone has a hard time expressing themselves, and give them room to say things wrong or take something back that they did not mean.

When posting an activity please begin with the city in the subject line.

Posts looking for other families with teens in your area are welcome. Please list city and some activities you are interested in participating in. You may also check the links section for groups that have provided their information.

Any activity associated with a religion, please clearly state which religion and if the activity is open to persons not of that religion.

All posts are subject moderated. Please do not post items for sale, discussion topics or family activities as these will be rejected.

Our eGroup has no specific rules or regulations, other than remembering to be kind and respectful to each other in our interactions, and following the "Terms of Service" of Yahoo! and Yahoo!Groups. Because we are an extremely diverse group, we want to keep postings to supportive topics pertinent to homeschooling and home-based education, and not get mired in debates or tangents that could create dissension or could be better shared in other forums. We also expect that members will not use this eGroup for religious, political, or commercial purposes. This is a place where we can learn and share with each other in a supportive and positive way as fellow homeschoolers.

We agree on our love for our children and our commitment to homeschooling. Except for these, our most outstanding characteristic is our diversity. In terms of educational philosophy, we range from families who follow structured curriculums to unschoolers who are very unstructured and others whose philosophies are in between. Some of our members cherish deeply held religious beliefs. Some are not religious at all. Some families are homeschooling one or more children while other children in the same family may be attending school. We practice tolerance and inclusion for all.

West Orange County Homeschooling Group is an inclusive, member directed support group of home schooling families.

Our families are diverse in their methods and styles of home education and all are welcome to participate.This is not a place for debate, criticism, or flaming of any kind.No spam will be tolerated. All posts should be family friendly, with no off-color material of any kind. Sometimes, there can be quite a bit of posts. If you do not want a lot of email coming in, you can change your settings to digest or no email. Digest option allows many messages to be sent in one group email.No email allows you to read from the group homepage with (obviously) no emails coming to your mailbox.
