Alaska Email Lists, Support Groups, Message Boards, Forums and Newsletters

akhomeschoolers - The Alaskan Homeschoolers mailing list exists to provide parents, administrators, teachers, and communities timely and useful information in regard to home, charter, private and other progressive, alternate forms of education in the State of Alaska.

It is intended to serve as a forum for educational resources, community events and other positive and supportive news and dialog. List members who spam, flame, junk-email or exhibit intolerance will be banned immediately. This is not a place for marketers to advertise their products.

Every Friday is "curriculum swap" day and postings for needed/used curriculum should be posted on that day.

This list is not a venue for promoting a lifestyle or personal agenda. This is a restricted list and as such, the list managers reserve to right to ban anyone, at anytime, for any reason, without notice or justification.

    For more information, visit http://www.aphea.org/.

    To Subscribe, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/akhomeschoolers/.

akfreeschoolers - This site is designed for the encouragement of Alaskan independent homeschoolers who have resolved to remain free of state control in all manner possible, specifically by not accepting any state monies through the State of Alaska correspondence programs.

We welcome political action alerts of specific interest to homeschoolers and ideas and information about curriculum and other resources of special interest to homeschoolers. We are organized around Christian, politically conservative or libertarian ideals. That is, "less government; less money to government, less government control over all aspects of our private lives." We welcome you and hope to develop a site that encourages and convicts your decision to remain freeschoolers and, thereby, free Americans. Oh, and we want to have FUN, too!

ALL new members must post an introduction and affirm they are independent, Christian homeschoolers. If no introduction and affirmation is made, the moderator will contact the new member with this request. If no reply is forthcoming, the moderator will contact you by posting to the general list in case you have not checked e-mail. These measures are for the safety of the member families on this list.

    For more information, visit http://www.aphea.org/.

AlaskaHS - AlaskaHS is a list for Alaskans (or those interested in living in AK) that homeschool. You may live in any part of AK to participate. When and if you post an activity just specify your area. We hope to have dialog, activities, networking, discussions, classes, family get togethers, and anything else that is of interest to those participating. This is a new group with old and new homeschoolers. No one form of homeschooling is designated because no one is the same. Some of us are religious and some of us are not. Some of us are political and some of us are not. And that's ok!!! If I can't share what's on my heart than why am I homeschooling??? Join in and post things of interest. This list was created on March 17, 1999. Dialog is encouraged. Lets grow together. Let us know who you are and what part of AK you live in and then join in at anytime you would like. Lurking is fine but why lurk when you can help develop this list into something you like being a part of!!! Kroeker in Chugiak, Alaska (I have 8 kids thus far 2006)

    To Subscribe, visit AlaskaHS.

eielsonwainwrighthomeschoolers (Eielson AFB/Ft. Wainwright Home Schoolers) - This is a group to help connect homeschoolers from Eielson AFB and Fort Wainwright (plus the surrounding civilian areas are welcome to join). We gather together to network, meet other homeschoolers, share ideas, socialize etc. Anyone who wants to organize something of interest for their own family and invite others along may do so on this list. Hikes, park days, game nights, group science experiments, field trips, and tours are some of the activities that our members may set up to name a few. Feel free to post things like this. Also post local events that you know of and any activities you know of that might interest the group. Although this group is moderated, anyone on this list can post events or activities.

Monthly Support group meetings are the 4th Friday of each month at the EAFB Chapel. Although we meet at the Chapel, we are not affiliated with any particular religious organization and people of all faiths are welcome. At meetings we make announcements of local events, field trips we may organize and time to share our experiences/concerns as homeschoolers. Volunteers are appreciated for help with set up/clean up. Feel free to bring drinks/treats to share and board games or outside games (weather permitting) for the kids.

fairbankshomeschoolers - Where Alaskans from Fairbanks, North Pole, Salcha, Fox and outlying area homeschoolers can get online support.

This new list is where you can get support, discuss homeschooling, trade curriculum, announce events (even garage sales) with only a few rules. No spam or flaming (advertising or arguing) will be tolerated and there are no exceptions. Should you decide to break the rules you'll be banned swiftly from the board.

This group's focus is to help other homeschoolers. While curriculum swaps are allowed remember that egroups/onelist and the moderator of this group are NOT responsible for ANY swap problems. Once you sign up you will recieve a detailed welcome message about rules and policies. Your email address will not be made public and egroups has a very strict anti spam policy.

While the groups focus is for those living in the Fairbanks area, anyone who will be moving to the area is welcome to join as well.

We have some wonderful Fairbanks resources listed under our links. Feel free to take a look. So join us today and begin posting away!
