I suppose it is because nearly all children go to school nowadays, and have things arranged for them, that they seem so forlornly unable to produce their own ideas.
~ Agatha Christie

LeapingFromTheBox.com no longer hosts a weekly Homeschool Chat.

In 1999 I began participating in online homeschool chats as a guest moderator for a statewide (Alabama) homeschool chat. In 2001 I started my own International Homeschool Chat on IRC and have held it weekly ever since. Since that time I have graduated three children, gained a grandchild and moved twice. Times change, needs change, and so, as of January 2011, there will be no more homeschool chats.

If you have a homeschool question, please feel free to email me at wdkmg@pipeline.com and I will do my best to answer your question or direct you to someone who can. Or spend some time on my website; quite possibly you will find your answer there!

A heartfelt thank you to all who participated in my homeschool chats over the past decade. I greatly enjoyed it and hope you did too!!

Dumbing Us Down
The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling

by John Taylor Gatto
In this tenth-anniversary edition, Gatto updates his theories on how the U.S. educational system cranks out students the way Detroit cranks out Buicks. He contends that students are more programmed to conform to economic and social norms rather than really taught to think.

by Rebecca Rupp
A structured plan to ensure that your children will learn what they need to know when they need to know it, from preschool through high school. Based on the traditional pre-K through 12th-grade structure.
