Pasco_Florida_Homeschoolers_Fun_in_the_Sun - OUR MOTTO IS...NO MANDATORY MEETINGS! NO FEES! NO STRESS!

A litttle about us...This Florida children/parent group is to help our Pasco homeschooled school-age children (ages 5 – 18 years old), along with surrounding counties, find friends in the area & activities to do together. We are geared for the ages of 5-18, but, with proper supervision, your other kiddos are welcome to come along too! We are open to all teaching styles.

We are a steadily growing group of online & off line members.

This group is FREE! You will not have to pay anything to be a part of this yahoo group; HOWEVER, THE ACTIVITIES WILL NOT BE PAID FOR BY THE GROUP. EACH PARENT MUST PAY FOR THEIR OWN CHILD/REN. Prices for each activity will be posted in advance of each group event.

Our group will offer: children's movie nights, bowling, roller-skating, game nights, field trips & other fun events the kids wish to do in the area. There will be plans for playgroups/meet-ups, along with Florida Aquarium, local zoo’s, museum & theme park trips. For summer, swimming days & other outdoor events will be planned. This group will also be a great way to help keep the kids entertained & active for the summer! Many other groups stop their activities over the summer, be we hope to continue our activities all year. The internet & email are excellent for organizing activities, but it's no replacement for the personal contact needed in a social group.

We can offer lots of advice & discussion to help with school age children here in Florida.

GROUP RULES WILL BE ADJUSTED/MODIFIED AS THE GROUP GROWS &/OR SITUATIONS ARISE.

Now a little about you...For the security of all of our children and members we ask that you tell us about yourself, your family & your interst in the group. We are an all-inclusive homeschool support group dedicated to providing support for all homeschoolers in Pensacola and the surrounding areas whatever your homeschooling style, reasons or religious beliefs are.

We believe that learning is accomplished by all through an atmosphere of love and respect.

Our group consists primarily of relaxed homeschoolers and unschoolers. We get together weekly for a play day and we sometimes plan a group activity for all those interested in participating. We also take turns planning field trips.

Please join us if you are intersted in finding out more about our group.

    To Subscribe, visit PensacolaLIFEHomeschool.

pinellasgiftedhomeschoolers (Pinellas Gifted Homeschoolers) - This group is intended to support gifted homeschoolers in Pinellas County, Florida. Others are welcome to join but would like members to be primarily local so we can get together for playdates and possibly a park day. I hope this list will be very active with homeschooling ideas, field trip ideas or anything related to gifted homeschoolers. preschoolhomeschoolersofbrevard (Preschool Homeschoolers of Brevard) - Playgroup for homeschooling families with children ages 0-6 yrs who live in Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Port St. John, Titusville, Melbourne, Rockledge, Palm Bay, Satellite Beach, Viera, or any other part of Brevard.

We have weekly playgroup meetings in members' homes every Wednesday morning and occasional field trips to places young children enjoy, as well as a monthly Moms Night Out and even potluck suppers.

We are not a typical Yahoo group where you can join just to read e-mails--we're a group of real-life friends who use Yahoo to communicate. Our intent is to become and remain a close-knit group of active members. We cheerfully welcome new families, but we insist on active participation & regular attendance at events. If you're just looking for a resource site & not wanting to be part of a community, both online & in person, PLEASE DON'T JOIN OUR GROUP. There are several good homeschool resource groups here in Brevard that do not require active involvement, and we encourage parents who just want to read emails to join those.

Some of us are relaxed homeschoolers, or even unschoolers (that is, doing little about schooling except taking life as it comes while providing exciting educational opportunities), and some use a curriculum. Some of us are religious and some are not. This group is inclusive & welcoming to all schooling styles & all religions, including no religion at all. If you have personal beliefs that might prevent you from accepting all members, this is not the group for you.

Please be prepared to fill out a questionnaire you'll receive via e-mail so we can introduce you & give you a big Space Coast welcome! The questionnaire is mandatory, for members' safety & for the sake of friendliness. Incomplete questionnaires will be automatically rejected.

New and used materials welcome. Hopefully this forum will provide an easy, non-threatening environment in which to bring the large number of sellers/buyers together (without any of the back-breaking work of "on-site" curriculum sales.) Please pass the word.

The group will provide an EASY-TO-USE SEARCHABLE database both for items "for sale" and items "wanted to buy".

This list is meant for families and only appropriate material may be submitted. Anyone submitting inappropriate material will be REMOVED from the list by the moderator. New and used materials welcome.

This is specifically NOT a religious group and is open to people of any or no faith.

Unlimited-Learning (Unlimited Learning) - Unschooling, semi-unschooling, part-time unschooling, radical unschooling, child-led learning, interest-led learning... the common denominator... LEARNING!

Unschooling can mean many things to different homeschoolers. At times, unschooling creates much debate, fear and often gets a bad 'rap'. Because of this, it's oftentimes hard to find other 'unschoolers'.

This group focuses on unschooling in Florida. Regardless of your extent of unschooling we believe in Unlimited Learning and providing a stimulating environment and the tools and desire to explore and learn.

Please visit the Files section to read the guidelines set for this group as well as the first few messages in the group to get a feel for the diversity of this list as relating to the definitions of unschooling.

    To Subscribe, visit Unlimited-Learning.

unschoolPB (Unschooling in the Palm Beaches) - This group is geared toward unschooling families in Palm Beach County, Florida. The act of unschooling a child is almost always accompanied by at least little bit of occasional apprehension; the "oh dear, I hope this method will really work for my kids!?" fear. This exists because we are inundated by both traditional institutional schooling and curriculum based homeschooling throughout our society. We are told that children must be 'schooled/taught' as opposed to following their own eager interests. Sharing concerns, questions, frustrations, fears, tears, laughs and joys with each other and forming a group that can meet to socialize and empower one another is what this list is all about. We wish to extend our welcome to not only unschoolers, but to those who might be tempted to try unschooling as well as families sharing "attachment parenting" and "natural family living" philosophies.

Respectful, humanitarian loving people of all backgrounds and faiths are welcome. We want to have fun in this group and we greatly desire that it be a means of having our precious children meet and form friendships with one another! We wish to learn from each other, cherish our similarities, appreciate kindly posted opinions, and be fascinated and inspired by diversities within our shared bond. At the same time, please do not join this list if you only want to argue against unschooling. There are plenty of traditional homeschooling lists out there you can join instead. We all want to do what is best for our children and families. Those of us who are here and have chosen unschooling see daily proof that it works. If you are only curious and want to learn more, that's great and you are still welcome. All we ask is that you read for awhile first to get a feel for this group and then determine if it is right for you. To join, please send an email stating that you would like to join with a brief description about your wonderful family. Thank you!

    To Subscribe, visit unschoolPB.
