General Description:
Serving homeschoolers since 2001, Outlook Academy is a hands-off church school. We believe you are the best teacher for your children, so Outlook Academy asks only for what the law requires yet offers support for your personal choices. We respect your privacy as well as your right to direct your children’s education unencumbered by restrictions. Outlook Academy is based in Millbrook, Alabama, but accepts members statewide.
Mission Statement:
In a manner that honors Jesus Christ, we seek to: provide legal covering, support and encouragement for home schooling families in Alabama, regardless of religious affiliation, in the most efficient and convenient manner; keep members informed of any pertinent home school legal issues and current events such as seminars and conferences; and promote positive public awareness of home education.
Requirements:
We require only what the state requires from homeschoolers using the church school option: attendance once per year. Parents simply send their student’s name and total number of days in an email in July each year.
Services:
- Providing the means to homeschool legally in Alabama
- Keeping records of attendance submitted by member families via email
- Providing enrollment verification for driver’s license permit, work permit, and dual enrollment in college or university
- Offering homeschool classes for preschool through high school at Academy Days Co-op for subjects difficult to teach at home or best taught in group settings
- Maintaining a monthly email newsletter and a web site featuring news of homeschooling interests
- Responding to homeschool inquiries via email, phone, or postal mail
- Remaining abreast of any laws, regulations and legal issues that may pertain to homeschooling in Alabama and disseminating this information to members
Fees:
Fees are per family, not per child.
New Enrollment between June 1 and September 5:
One-time Enrollment Fee: $30
Annual Membership Fee: $95
Mid-Year New Enrollment between September 6 through May 31:
One-time Enrollment Fee: $75
Annual Membership Fee: $95
Re-enrollment (second year and beyond) May 1 through June 30: $75
Re-enrollment (second year and beyond) July 1 through September 5: $95
