    General description (or Mission Statement): Based on the exhortation of Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Shades Mountain Independent Church Academy (SMICA) is a church-based, family centered, discipleship ministry that assists homeschool parents in fulfilling their calling to home educate their children according to the Christ-centered, Biblical worldview.

    Additional Info: We are currently full and have closed our waiting list due to demand. We are still happy to send out the general info packet and the list of homeschool groups in the Jefferson and Shelby County area. Our volunteer contact mom or board members are glad to answer questions when they can be available. We do general orientation to homeschooling meetings in January and high school orientation meetings in late May or early June open to anyone interested. Our website is currently not very functional, but check back later.
