General description (or Mission Statement): Creekside Academy functions as a church/school and support group in Northwest Alabama. It is our desire to equip families who wish to homeschool their children with the goals being: first to glorify God through this endeavor, second, to keep our requirements as minimal as possible while remaining within the legal limits of Alabama Law. Third, we desire to be inclusive of families from diverse backgrounds, be it religious or ethnic and who fall between the ages of birth to 18 years of age. Finally, we want to edify the educators within the family through our support group and resources.
Colossians 2:2-3, “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Requirements: The requirements for families participating in Creekside Academy are simple: We require two (2) progress reports per year - December and June; we require the educating parent or family member to attend at least two support group meetings per year - this does not include the enrollment meeting in August or the End-of-the-Year meeting in June. When a family completes the enrollment paperwork we require a curriculum list. We do not issue curriculum to families but we do offer curriculum counseling. We do not require testing, but we do offer Standardized testing every spring.
Fees: $100 for the first year, per family. Each consecutive year is $75 per family.
Services: The first Tuesday night of each month, August through May we sponsor a support group meeting at Creekside Church. The meeting begins at 7pm and generally runs until about 9pm.
Every month we distribute a copy of "A Note from Home". This newsletter is distributed primarily via e-mail in pdf format.
