General description (or Mission Statement): It is our belief that God gave children to specific parents and that He wants us to teach our own. This does not change regardless of the beliefs of the parents. We believe every child would benefit from homeschooling, but we know that not every family can do it. Therefore we also try to offer helps for those at risk or having problems homeschooling in a traditional way.

Requirements: 160 days of school can be any days in any month any hours of the day; we are on a 12 month calendar; a day of school consists of any day in which a child is learning something new or practicing his/her skills (I can imagine few days that would not count); we allow parents to have complete choice in curriculum (course of study) and materials; we do require 24 credits for graduation but are flexible about them, we accept all teaching methods, including unschooling; single and/or working parents are accepted as long as children under 16 have supervision on school day mornings; parents may have anyone they wish teach their child as long as we have teacher's name and contact information; the sponsoring church requires one year of Bible to graduate which may be Bible history or the Bible as literature if desired, attendance reports are to be submitted every three months, progress reports or transcripts are requested at the end of each school year but are only required when the child transfers to another school or applies for graduation. Orientations are held in three locations and are only required of new families. Mentors are available to show new homeschoolers the ropes.

Fees: $150.00 per year per family

Services: Support group activities in most areas; field trips, classes, other activities vary by area; resource center at Montgomery office; diplomas and cap and gown graduation; dual enrollment with many colleges; home college courses; accreditation with AISAA, teacher training classes for parents; spelling bee; history and science fairs; professional transcripts; forms for report cards if parents wish; diagnostic testing; curriculum consultation; personal or family counseling; IEPs (some services require additional fees)

Additional Info: All members must subscribe to the Yahoo group (directions given upon registration).
